About

Xiaoyi Lin’s work explores the human body as a three-dimensional physical form and puts it in relation to other living and non-living bodies that shape our societies. Juxtaposing the human body with things, objects and infrastructures, highlights the human body as a product of our consumeristic societies. This is particularly evident when we think of the bodies of more vulnerable groups in our societies, and we look at how their bodies are accessed and consumed by the dominant individuals. Her work aims at finding relations between the different bodies of our societies and the mentalities that rule those. This research manifests itself mostly into video installations and the making of jewelry and garments.
